THE VILLAGE
The largest village in Gojal, Gulmit has a post office, a telephone
exchange, a bank, a library and the Wakhi cultural museum, hospital
etc. It lies 2435mtrs. above sea level. The primary inhabitants of the
village are the Wakhi people who are said to have migrated from Central
Asia 800 yrs ago.

Surrounded by towering peaks and awe inspiring glaciers, Gulmit offers
stunning views all around immediately sending one ino moods of contemplation
restfulness and ease.
Peaceful Gulmit is the center of trekking in Hunza, it sits between
the shimshal valley, Chipurson valley, Khunjrab pass and Karimabad.
Gulmit is paradise for simple lovers of mountains and landscapes. Gulmit
is an excellent last stop before crossing the border to China and also
the perfect place to recover the two day journey from Kashgar. Gulmit
is a base to see the Khunjrab pass as a day trip.
